Pinewood Derby 2019

Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 9 AM – 12 PM
Registration starts at 8:30 AM

Location: Van Sciver Elementary School

The pinewood derby is a racing event for Cub Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America. Cub Scouts, with the help of parents, build their own cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine, plastic wheels, and metal axles.

Our Pack’s derby runs once a year, and is our #1 event! It is also our #1 fundraising event.

Every boy should arrive with the car built with the materials he received earlier in the year, his own “grand prix” car.

Help is encouraged, but everyone can tell when an adult builds a car compared to a 7-year-old’s work.

The Blue and Gold Awards Night will be held on Tuesday, June 5th at Van Sciver Elementary School.

Join us at 7:00 pm in the All Purpose Room to celebrate the achievements of our Cubs and the advancement of our 5th grade Webelos to the Boy Scouts.

Cubs will receive their badges and the advancing Webelos will walk across a ceremonial bridge to symbolize exiting the Cubs and being welcomed into BSA Troop 179.

I hope you can make it out to celebrate all that your Cubs have accomplished this year.

Please email to indicate if you are attending and how many total guests will be in your party.

Join the Pack in celebrating the accomplishments of our Cubs this program season! We will have pizza, some fun, and recognize the kids that have made it all the way through. In addition, BSA Troop 179 will welcome the Webelo II Cubs into the Troop in the “bridging ceremony”.

Please take part in the event!

We will need a few volunteers for supplies and setup as well. Please email the Cubmaster for details.
